If I were to identify with one animal, it would be a bird. No bird in specific, just birds. They are so free. They fly, eat, sleep, and shit. Wherever, whenever. I’m extremely envious of their ability to see all views from the perspective of the sky. Birds have the ability to see every single beautiful deep orange sunset from an aerial view, while I am stuck on the ground hoping I have a good enough view.
Birds fly south for the winter. They want no part of the frigid temperatures, the thin air, and the lack of nutrition from nature. Maybe they are smarter than us. I would love to be in the south for the winters... Laying in the sun, never shivering, not having to worry about slipping on ice. I am jealous. Another reason I identify with a bird is their ability to survive.
Birds will do what is necessary to survive. If it's cold and they can't find food, they'll go south. If they are being chased by a predator, they fly away, faster and higher. They stay clean to show off their feathers, as it is important to find a mate, but I'm sure birds prefer to look good. Afterall, putting on a show for the ladies is a part of survival as a bird. In order to reproduce, they need to prove to the female birds that they are worthy of being a mate.
I wonder what I would be like as a bird. I think I’d enjoy it quite a bit. I would spend most of my time in the air. I want to see the world, I want to see the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. It’s important to me to see as much of this world as possible while I can. Afterall, I never know when the worm population will die out, then I’m shit out of luck for food.
